Caltrans Stormwater Campaign

The statewide public awareness campaign raises awareness about stormwater pollution.

Sacramento, California – Adopt A Beach®, a subsidiary of AAB Outdoor Media®, is proud to announce its partnership with the “Protect Every Drop” campaign. Led by Caltrans’ Stormwater Program, the campaign seeks to educate Californians about sources and pathways of stormwater pollution, and to encourage consumer behavior that reduces pollutants.

Both organizations recognized complementary missions to improve water quality and to keep our streams, rivers and coastal waters more drinkable, swimmable and fishable. The partnership between Caltrans Stormwater Program and AAB Outdoor Media will help bring additional awareness to those impacted by stormwater pollution by strategically placing campaign messages on beaches, boardwalks, piers and parking lots. Examples include creative wraps around trash receptacles, benches and other strategic placement.

The campaign aims to change public behavior through education and provide information about how individual actions can protect and preserve receiving waters through control of pollutants transported via surface water flow. The campaign addresses key actions the public can take, including:

1) Properly disposing of trash and other items containing pollutants
2) Covering and securing truckloads that may fall, or blow, off during travel
3) Performing routine vehicle and tire maintenance, which reduces pollution from vehicles

The campaign also addresses other pollutants found in highway stormwater that may originate from non-highway sources such as pesticides and bacteria from natural sources. For more additional information, please visit

Marketing Communications Manager, 1211 E. Dyer Road, Suite 110, Santa Ana, CA 92705, United States

My experience in marketing began when I was in college where my primary focus in school was actually graphic design. At that time it was a general requirement that fine arts students also took marketing and advertising classes to better acquaint ourselves with how they all go hand in hand. Interestingly enough, by the end of my college career I had actually become more immersed in the world of marketing and advertising than in my original point of study. While I’d like to think of myself as a marketing "expert" where I stand in my professional career today, I do believe that professionally we never really stop learning, nor do we want to. I have always appreciated the need for continued education because I find it to be fundamental in advocating great ideas that can result in positive and successful business growth. It’s exciting to have a creative edge in my line of work, but I love absorbing new information and methods that are unfamiliar to me. It has taken many years, working for many different companies, to understand that the needs for marketing can vary from business to business, making it crucial to creatively and strategically tailor our line of communications to meet our precise audience. It’s one of the many reasons why marketing is absolutely essential for all businesses, large and small. Without the proper marketing to support a growing business, all the moving parts that operate within will eventually become stagnant. Business growth is necessary not only in maintaining those moving parts, but also in evolving them into something even greater. A company will never reach its full growth potential without the help of marketing and it is my job to determine which avenues can best be utilized to suit our business needs and which mediums are most effective in achieving our business goals and objectives. With all that being said, I currently work for a small, privately owned company where our line of work is entirely B2B… and a challenge at that. We face the same struggles in marketing as most other businesses face and I really hope that in sharing those challenges, successes, and failures, along with my own person experiences in the field, you are able to take away something that you can utilize in the future with your own company to help promote positive and successful business growth. Think big, grow big!
